LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game Star Wars - Jedi Math

LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game Star Wars - Jedi Math Review

We purchased this game along with Leapster 2 systems for each of my kids (2, 2, 4). Wow, as soon as my 4 year old started to play the game I was impressed. While he can count pretty high, he had been having trouble with knowing his numbers by sight, especially teens and twenties. Within the first ten minutes of play, he had quickly grasped these numbers as used he laser to shoot the appropriate numbers.
We are pretty conservative in what we allow our children to watch, so my kids have no idea who the Star Wars characters really are and I was a little concerned about how Star Wars could be appropriate for young children. They do an excellent job in handling the "violence" issue so the game really isn't scary nor cruel. They have done an excellent job of making the learning of simple math facts fun. We are still on level one of game play, so I am not sure how the upper levels are or how advanced they get in keeping the attention of children. The first level was very appropriate for my 4 year old, who tends to work at a Kindergarten level. My 2 year olds are probably at least six months, if not a year or more from being ready for the first level of this game.
I really enjoy the bonus questions used to help unlock doors - a great way of teaching and reinforcing the concepts of time and time of day. We hadn't intentionally tackled things like minutes versus hours with my four year old, but he was still able to get those type of questions right. I hadn't expected that aspect of the game and was excited about seeing it. The game was also a pretty neat way of introducing story problems to young children without intimidation.

Education focused fun - Tim Klabunde - Virginia, USA
This game has been perfect for reinforcing numbers and addition for our Kindergarten and 1st grade sons. It definitely has more of a focus on education than gaming, but enough gaming to keep them very interested. The new online overview for parents is a great way to see the areas that he is working on. Overall, a great educational game!

Great Leapster Math game - Toddler Mom -
My 4yo daughter LOVES the Star Wars Jedi Math along with the Batman game as her two favorite leapster games. Lucky Leapster kids!

Another excellent Leapster learning game - J. A. Hulme - Los Angeles, CA
This was a Christmas gift for a 5-yr.-old boy. I don't really have feedback from the family, but the game looked interesting to me!

Thriving During Tough Times - Leapfrog Your Challenges

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Only when you have future focus and use future pull can you leapfrog your challenges. Otherwise, the best you can do is to fully meet your challenges head on. You will always be moving uphill when you use this approach.

There are many peer or forum groups formed all the time to bring a group of similar people together to tap the collective intelligence of the group to help the members meet their challenges. However, these forum groups tend to mainly address the challenges at hand. As a participant, you can seek input, feedback, and ideas from your peers to help you address your challenges. Often times, your peers can provide you several solutions based on their experiences. This is beneficial, but still limiting.

You often times can leapfrog your challenges when you participate in mastermind groups or councils that maintain a strong future focus. With this future focus, you can look to "plus" or "multiply" the shred input, feedback and ideas in ways that allow you to leapfrog your current challenges and put you further down the road toward your highest visions and aspirations. But, you can only do this if you are regularly take time to step outside your daily grind and work on the strategic thinking about the future.

What is your strategic thinking rhythm? How and when do you regular contemplate the key strategic inputs that help define a path to a brighter future?

Some of the key strategic inputs that will allow you to take sound ideas to address challenges and turn them into opportunities to leapfrog your challenges are:

Vision in the form of what Jim Collins calls the Big Hairy Audacious Goals
Core Ideologies in the form of core values, core purpose, and core competencies
Market Awareness and Analysis in the form of the classic Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) Analysis
3 to 5 year targets for key thrusts and capabilities
Brand positioning and promise
Yearly Goals, Objectives, and Initiatives
90-day projects and priorities

Some of these inputs will not be powerfully defined in one or a few sessions of strategic thinking. It took Starbucks about 6 months to nail their Big Hairy Audacious Goal when working with the guru, Jim Collins. Each input will likely evolve and come together over time. Thus, it is important to have a personal and organizational strategic thinking rhythm.

That is why Verne Harnish has spent years promoting strategic meeting rhythms as a key habit for growth companies. It is the regular rhythm of strategic thinking that allows organizations and companies to not only meet their challenges, but leapfrog them, on their path to a grand vision!

When Buying Baby Shower Gifts, Should You Buy Practical Gifts Or Fun Gifts? How About Both

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Sometimes choosing gifts for baby showers is not as simple as going to the store in which the expectant mother is registered, and picking an item on the list. Sometimes, mothers choose not to register with a specific store, and sometimes, they register with a store but when you print out the list, there are no items that were picked that fall in your budget. There are even times when parents decide not to find out the gender of the baby until the date of birth. So you ask yourself, "What do I do in this circumstance? What kind of gift can I buy? What kind of baby shower gift would be suitable for any baby, whether they be a boy or a girl?" When it comes to deciding on a unisex gift for a baby shower, choosing general items that are essential for every baby is key.

Today, there are tons of unisex baby clothes available in the market. Go to your local baby department store, or check the infants clothing department of any major department store. You are bound to find different types and styles of unisex clothing for babies from 0 to 24 months. If you are technology savvy and an avid online shopper, unisex baby clothes can also be found online. There are some great online deals for unisex baby clothes, so be sure to surf the web for competitive prices.

Many baby accessories like baby blankets, baby bottles, pacifiers, and diaper bags usually come in unisex styles. A light green color or a soft yellow are common colors used for both buys and girls. A lot of diaper bags and blankets are already unisex, so finding one should not be difficult. Baby bottles and pacifiers are general items that all babies use, and come in standard, unisex styles most of the time.

Infant and toddler toys are another great idea when it comes to choosing a unisex present for a baby shower. Mobiles, plush toys, teething toys, bath toys, and plastic baby-safe books are good general toys. Learning and activity toys are becoming more and more popular, and are great for developing the little one's mind and intellect. Baby Einstein, Leapfrog, Fisher Price, and Little Tikes make toys for infants and toddlers that are amazing for teaching babies the basics before preschool. Some of the most popular games include those that teach babies the alphabet, numbers, basic language, shapes, and the most primary fundamentals of science and geography. Toys that develop a child's musical ear and that deal with identifying sounds are also very popular today.

A classic unisex gift idea for a baby shower that never fails is to create a gift basket with all the essentials. Here you can include diapers, baby bottles, pacifiers, small toys, and you can throw in some candy for the mommy-to-be. Add your own flair by decorating it, again, in colors that are not directly associated with either the male or female gender (like blue or pink). Baby baskets are a fun gift and are very useful for the baby's parents. Baby shower cakes are the latest rage and will give the new parents diapers and other baby necessities. Don't forget to make it cute and creative!

LeapFrog Fridge Wash & Go Magnetic Vehicle Set

LeapFrog Fridge Wash & Go Magnetic Vehicle Set Review

This toy is great! Fun music and songs, no matter what combination you put in. Our daughter really enjoyed this toy at 12 months for the music, even though she couldn't place the parts together herself. The magnets are strong enough where they stay put, but they come off a surface easily enough for a infant/toddler. My only negative comment about this toy is that our fridge got scratched within the first 30 minutes of being on our fridge with a 12-month old infant's light touch.

LeapFrog Fridge Wash & Go Magnetic Vehicle Set Feature

  • Create over 25 vehicle combinations with 10 mix-and-match pieces.
  • Play on the fridge, wall or floor.
  • Helps develop matching and motor skills.
  • Explores colors and vehicle names and sounds.

LeapFrog Fridge Wash & Go Magnetic Vehicle Set Overview

Learn colors, vehicle names and sounds as you mix and match truck, car and tractor pieces to create over 25 vehicle combinations. Every combination sings a song, and all pieces attach securely to any magnetic surface. Requires 3 "AAA" batteries, included.

A disappointing offering from LeapFrog - Little Red Writing Hood - Mount Juliet, TN United States
We bought the Wash & Go Magnetic Vehicle Set for our son's first birthday. Owning the alphabet fridge magnets AND the barnyard set, we were excited to add the vehicles to our collection. The sound on this set is terrible, and the song about the bubble wash is not only annoying, it's just sort of dumb. I would not recommend this product to anyone; I would steer them to the alphabet or barnyard fridge magnets.

like it a lot - Kat - SLC, UT
I like this toy a lot and so does my 4 year old. I bought it for my 1 year old who likes it too, whenever he gets a chance to play with it.

Leap Frog Tag Reading System Review

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The Leap Frog Tag Reading System is an innovation on how you can make your children learn how to read books. Does your child have difficulty to read because he finds ordinary picture books boring? But, would you rather have your child reading books that staring at the television screen the whole day?

The tag reading system may be the answer to all your problems. With this system all you need to do is place your tag reading pen over a certain text or picture to make the pen read or sing it out loud. This way, reading becomes more fun and dynamic as every story comes to life through both the written and spoken word.

The Leap Frog set comes with more than 20 story books and games that are sure to entertain your child, and help him learn how to read. These stories feature famous characters from the television and movies such as Spongebob Squarepants and Kung Fu Panda, so kids can relate to the characters easily. When your child reads the stories, he can choose to have the entire story read aloud to him, or to have the story read page-by-page. And when he becomes better at reading, he can use the pen to identify only the most difficult words.

With Leap Frog, your child will no longer be afraid of reading books because he will have his pen to help him in case of trouble. Also, your child may even get into the habit of reading books as he grows up because you started him on the habit early on. If you are looking for the most fun and effective way to teach your child how to read then the Leap Frog Tag Reading System may be exactly what you're looking for.

LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game Scholastic ISPY Treasure Hunt

LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game Scholastic ISPY Treasure Hunt Review

We got this as the first game for my six-year-old daughter's new Leapster 2. She wanted a DS, like her brothers have, but I thought she was too young for that. She likes the game, and I saw that she played it a lot when it was new, but I haven't noticed her playing it that often lately. She prefers the drawing game that comes with the Leapster over this game. However, my three-year-old could play it for hours, even though it is above her level of understanding. From what I have seen, you are given a picture, and you are told to find certain items in the picture. You use the pen to pan around and select objects. There is also a game where you match items that rhyme or match items with their initial letter. Good learning activities, but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of variety, though, and maybe that's because my kids play the same level over and over. There are three levels to choose from. I got this item for a very good price, so it was worth it to me. I have not tried any other games, though, so I can't give a comparative review.

LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game Scholastic ISPY Treasure Hunt Feature

Leapster I Spy Treasure Hunt - G. Mcloughlin - Gaithersburg, MD
This was a huge success with my four-year-old on Christmas! HE loves playing this (for HOURS at a time) and I would highly recommend this to anyone with a Leapster.

Not as listed - Leonard Harrington - Fenton Mi
I bought this for my four year old granddaughter's birthday. When I read the description here it said manufactors suggested age was 4 to 8. I thought great she can do this, since she is just turning 4. I was very displeased to see that when it arrived it is for grades one to three, ages 6 to 9. Why is this misrepresented?? This is not a game for a 4 or 5 year old. Grossly misrepresnted, and being returned!
